Happy Anniversary
Can you believe it has been 64 years since the Russians put Sputnik into space and CBS broadcast the Cleaver family via the airwaves to homes all across America? I think the Americans got the better part of that deal. As of today, October 4, 2021, there are now 10 members of the cast who had starring or recurring roles (at least 4 appearances) that are still alive and who can take pride in appearing in a show that, according to Jerry Mathers, has never been off the air for one week since it debuted 64 years ago today. Those actors are Jerry Mathers, Tony Dow, Rusty Stevens, Jeri Weil, Buddy Hooker, Tiger Fafara, Richard Correll, Stephen Talbot, Pamela Beaird and Veronica Cartwright. And although unconfirmed, I also believe Bobby Mittelstaedt who played Charles Fredericks and Karen Sue Trent who played Penny are also living.
